# Kilo Code

> Run Kilo Code with Mercury 2.5 through Inception's API.

Kilo Code supports Inception as a provider. Because Mercury 2.5 is not yet included in Kilo's bundled model catalog, add it explicitly to your Kilo configuration.

## Setup

<Steps>
  <Step title="Install Kilo Code">
    Install the [Kilo Code extension or CLI](https://kilo.ai/docs/getting-started/installation).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set your API key">
    ```bash theme={null}
    export INCEPTION_API_KEY="your-api-key-here"
    ```
  </Step>

  <Step title="Configure Mercury 2.5">
    Create `~/.config/kilo/kilo.json`, or add the configuration to a project-level `kilo.json`:

    ```json theme={null}
    {
      "$schema": "https://app.kilo.ai/config.json",
      "provider": {
        "inception": {
          "env": ["INCEPTION_API_KEY"],
          "options": {
            "baseURL": "https://api.inceptionlabs.ai/v1"
          },
          "models": {
            "mercury-2.5": {
              "name": "Mercury 2.5",
              "limit": {
                "context": 260000,
                "output": 65536
              }
            }
          }
        }
      },
      "model": "inception/mercury-2.5"
    }
    ```

    <Note>
      If you already have a Kilo configuration, merge the `inception` provider and `model` fields instead of replacing the file.
    </Note>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Start Kilo Code">
    Open the Kilo Code extension, or launch the CLI:

    ```bash theme={null}
    kilo
    ```
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Verify the integration

```bash theme={null}
kilo run --model inception/mercury-2.5 \
  "Reply with exactly: Mercury 2.5 is connected."
```
